North Carolina has some of the best camping sites for a Labor Day, or an anytime outdoor experience. Charlotte area residents can save money, by enjoying North Carolina camping sites for a family weekend getaway.

Black Mountain campground, located in Burnsville, North Carolina is in the Blue Ridge Mountains, at the foot of Mt. Mitchell; in the Pisgah National forest. There are 48 campsites without hookups available for campers. The cost is 16 dollars per day. Hiking trails, volleyball nets, grills, toilets, and trash cans are available. There are no showers. The Briar Bottom campground fee is 50 dollars per day. The campsite in North Carolina accommodates up to 50 people. Steve Martin, the renowned actor, author, comedian and musician, will perform at the 4th Annual Mountain Song Festival, September 11-12 in Brevard, North Carolina. Martin gave a surprise performance at last year’s festival when he joined the Steep Canyon Rangers, host band for the festival, for their second set.

“I was thrilled to be on stage again performing for such an enthusiastic crowd,” says Martin. “And I’m very excited to be returning.”

From that initial collaboration, Martin fostered a deep musical connection with the band. Steep Canyon Rangers joined Martin on the road and recently appeared together on the syndicated radio show “Prairie Home Companion.” Martin’s IBMA-nominated album “The Crow” and recent tour represent his most dedicated foray into music in thirty years. President Barack Obama recently met with Italian President Giorgio Napolitano prior to attending the G8 Summit in L’Aquila. The president gifted him with a variety of American wines from across the nation packaged in a custom-made box crafted from the wood of former Oval Office flooring. Included in his gift was a bottle of 2008 Raffaldini Vineyards Vermentino.

Raffaldini Vineyards is near the BRP — in the Yadkin Valley Region of North Carolina. The family-owned estate is a slice right out of Tuscany, Italy.
